Head coach Kyle Shanahan said Thursday that the 49ers will "hold off" on placing Samuel (hamstring) on IR due to the team's bye in Week 8, Vic Tafur of the Athletic reports.
It was reported earlier in the week that Samuel would miss multiple weeks; however, the 49ers are stopping short of placing him on injured reserve for the time being due to how the schedule sets up. Samuel is set to miss at least the Week 6 game against the Commanders and likely the following game against the Falcons before the team gets a bye. Week 9 seems to be the earliest potential return date for the veteran.
San Francisco head coach Kyle Shanahan said that Samuel strained his right hamstring "pretty good" during Sunday's 32-29 win over Seattle and is "going to miss at least a couple weeks," David Lombardi of SFStandard.com reports.

Samuel is expected to miss at least a couple weeks due to a hamstring injury he sustained during the 49ers' 32-29 win over the Seahawks on Sunday, David Lombardi of the San Francisco Standard reports.
Samuel underwent an MRI on his hamstring following Sunday's game, and the results showed an injury significant enough for the veteran wide receiver to warrant a multi-week absence. The 49ers are on a bye in Week 8, so it wouldn't be surprising to see Samuel sidelined for the next two games and before returning for Week 9 against the Raiders on Sunday, Nov. 8, per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com. Christian Kirk (calf) isn't quite ready to return from IR, so Brandin Cooks, Jacob Cowing and Jordan Watkins are candidates step into the WR2 role behind Mike Evans for as long as Samuel is sidelined.
Samuel (hamstring) has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Samuel set the NFL record for the most receiving yards in a game without a reception with 80 during Sunday's Week 3 win over the Cardinals.
Samuel scored an 80-yard touchdown in the first quarter, as Mike Evans caught a two-yard pass from Brock Purdy before lateraling the ball to Samuel, who took it 80 yards to the house. That play accounted for all 80 of Samuel's receiving yards, as he didn't record a target or catch in the game, though the versatile veteran added 14 rushing yards on two carries. Evans later exited the game due to a rib injury.
