The Packers officially placed Reed (neck) on injured reserve Wednesday.
Coach Matt LaFleur announced earlier Wednesday that Reed required surgery on his neck injury that'll be season-ending, so this transaction was inevitable. Reed has been contained to just nine regular-season appearances the last two years due to health concerns, but LaFleur did relay to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he doesn't believe the current issue will threaten the wide receiver's career. With Reed sidelined for the rest of the campaign, Skyy Moore will operate as Green Bay's No. 3 WR behind Christian Watson and Matthew Golden.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Wednesday that Reed will require season-ending surgery on his neck, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.
The Packers are expected to formally place Reed on injured reserve later Wednesday to open up a spot on the 53-man roster. According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, LaFleur said that he doesn't believe the neck injury that Reed sustained in the Packers' Week 2 win over the Jets is career-threatening, but it's unclear what sort of timeline he might be facing for his recovery. LaFleur indicated that with Reed lost for the season, Skyy Moore -- who recorded three catches for 31 yards on seven targets in the Week 3 loss to Atlanta -- is the next man up to serve as the Packers' No. 3 wideout behind Christian Watson and Matthew Golden, per Ryan Wood of USA Today.
Everyone sharing the ball with Jayden, most valuable first.
Above the line the plan was to throw; below it, to run.
The Packers are expected to place Reed (neck) on injured reserve Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Reed remains without a clear timeline for a return after sustaining a neck injury in the Packers' Week 2 win over the Jets that resulted in a brief stay in the hospital, but his impending move to IR ensures that he'll remain out for at least Green Bay's next four games. With Reed out indefinitely, second-year player Matthew Golden should be further insulated as the Packers' No. 2 receiver, while the likes of Skyy Moore, Bo Melton and J. Michael Sturdivant should see more involvement in three- and four-wide sets.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said Monday that he still has no update regarding how long Reed (neck) will be sidelined, Matt Schneidman of The Athletic reports.

Reed has been ruled out of Sunday's game at the Jets due to a neck injury.
Reed was placed on a backboard and carted off the field after the Packers' second offensive snap, and a neck injury was to blame for his early exit. With Reed sidelined for the rest of Week 2, Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, Skyy Moore, Bo Melton and J. Michael Sturdivant will handle WR reps for the Packers.

On the Packers' second offensive snap, Reed remained on the turf and was moved to a backboard before being placed on the cart to head to the locker room. Reed caught three of his seven targets for 20 yards in Sunday's 39-22 loss to the Vikings.
Reed saw the third-most targets for the Packers behind Matthew Golden (12) and Christian Watson (8), but the wide receiver could not haul in enough to match either's production. Tucker Kraft's 60 yards and Jonnu Smith's 50 yards also outproduced Reed on fewer targets, meaning Week 1 may not have instilled Jordan Love with much trust in the wide receiver.
Reed signed a three-year, $50.25 million extension with the Packers on Friday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
The promising but oft-injured receiver was set to enter the final year of his rookie deal in 2026, but he's now signed through the 2029 campaign. The deal includes $20 million guaranteed and comes on the heels of the Packers allowing Romeo Doubs to exit to the Patriots via free agency and trading Dontayvion Wicks to the Eagles earlier in April.
