The Browns placed Sanders (hip) on injured reserve Tuesday.
Sanders had opened the season as Cleveland's No. 3 running back but saw his role increase a bit over the previous four weeks following Dylan Sampson's (knee) move to IR. During that stretch, Sanders carried eight times for 42 yards and added eight catches for 49 yards on nine targets before going down with the hip injury in the Browns' Week 5 loss to the Jets. Sanders will now be sidelined for at least the next four games as a result of his placement on IR.

Sanders operated as the RB2 during the offseason program and could establish that role for himself with a strong training camp, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal posits.
Dylan Sampson is currently listed as the No. 2 running back behind Quinshon Judkins, but the former did not participate in any drills in the offseason due to an undisclosed injury. That allowed Sanders to see more work in OTAs and minicamp, and the RB2 role is seemingly in reach if he can outperform Sampson in training camp and preseason games. Sanders played in just four regular-season games for the Browns in 2025, three of which came over the final three weeks of the campaign, and finished with 27 carries for 92 yards and a touchdown along with three catches on four targets for 21 yards.
Sanders had five carries for 26 yards and caught his lone target for seven yards in Sunday's 20-18 win over the Bengals in Week 18.
