inherits 8% of SEA carries (53% vacated, his claim 15%)
Holani rushed five times for 20 yards and a touchdown in the Seahawks' 17-14 overtime loss to the Broncos on Thursday.
Holani filled his usual complementary role behind Emanuel Wilson, and he made good use of two of his touches in particular. Holani gained 13 of his yards on one carry, and he also posted his first rushing touchdown of the campaign on a one-yard run with just under six minutes remaining in regulation. Holani should remain in a low-volume role that could shrink even further if Zach Charbonnet (knee) is activated from the PUP list as expected for a Week 7 home showdown against the Chiefs on Sunday, Oct. 25.
Holani rushed four times for seven yards and lost a fumble while reeling in all four of his targets for 24 yards during Sunday's 32-29 loss to the 49ers.
Holani was unable to get much going on the ground in Week 5, and he put the ball on the ground twice in the contest, the latter of which resulted in a defensive touchdown for San Francisco with 18 seconds left in the first half. The running back entered the game having dealt with both a knee injury and an injured rib at practice throughout the week, but he was ultimately good to go, and he was estimated to be a full participant on the Seahawks' first Week 6 injury report Monday. With Zach Charbonnet (knee) not expected back this week, Holani once again will operate as a top backup option behind Emanuel Wilson in the backfield against the Broncos on Thursday Night Football.
Above the line the plan was to throw; below it, to run.

Holani (rib) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Chargers, while teammate Jadarian Price (chest) has been ruled out.
Holani still figures to get most of his playing time on passing downs but could take on more carries in the absence of Price. The Seahawks also have Jacardia Wright and Velus Jones as backfield options on the practice squad, so Emanuel Wilson and Holani won't automatically get all of the snaps.
Holani (ribs) remained limited in Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
The Seahawks are banged up in the backfield, as Jadarian Price (chest) was downgraded to DNP after a limited session Thursday, and Zach Charbonnet (knee/PUP) was limited in his first practice of the season. It appears as if Emanuel Wilson could be in line for a decent workload Sunday against the Chargers if Price is unable to play and Holani is less than 100 percent.
Holani (ribs) was a limited participant at the Seahawks' practice Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Holani rushed three times for 10 yards while catching all five of his targets for 48 yards during the team's 33-31 loss to the Commanders in Week 3. He appears to have picked up injury to his ribs along the way, and the running back was unable to log a full session Wednesday as a result. Fellow running back Jadarian Price (chest) was also a limited participant to open the week, leaving Emanuel Wilson as the team's only fully healthy option in the backfield ahead of Thursday's practice.
Holani (knee) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's contest at Washington.
The same can be said for No. 1 RB Jadarian Price, who capped Week 3 prep with a full practice Friday after being limited the previous two days due to a chest injury that he sustained this past Sunday in Arizona. Holani thus will be behind Price and likely even Emanuel Wilson in the Seahawks backfield this weekend, a role that so far has yielded 13 touches for 45 yards from scrimmage through two games to begin the campaign.
Holani (knee) practiced on a limited basis Wednesday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Despite rookie first-rounder Jadarian Price leaving this past Sunday's game at Arizona in the fourth quarter due to a chest injury, Holani experienced a downturn in snap share from Week 1 to 2 (46 versus 26 percent), and he also received two fewer touches (eight versus six), while fellow RB Emanuel Wilson racked up 21 carries for 92 yards in relief of Price. Both Price and Holani are kicking off Week 3 prep with a cap on their reps, so how they fare in practice Thursday and Friday likely will determine the breakdown of work Sunday in Washington.
Holani carried four times for 13 yards and caught his only target for two yards Sunday in a 31-7 victory versus the Cardinals.
Holani got the third-most offensive snaps (18) among Seattle's running backs, trailing Jadarian Price (24) and Emanuel Wilson (29). Price hurt his shoulder and had to exit the game in the fourth quarter, at which point Wilson took over as the clear lead RB and finished with a strong 21-92-0 rushing line. With that said, if Price is sidelined Week 5 versus Washington, Wilson would likely lead Seattle's backfield, though Holani would stand to see increased opportunities as well.
Holani rushed eight times for 29 yards and failed to bring in his only target in the Seahawks' 13-10 win over the Patriots on Wednesday.
The change-of-pace back ironically logged just two fewer carries than lead runner Jadarian Price while also being a complete non-factor as a pass catcher. Holani ran reasonably well against a tough Patriots front, and his carry total served as the second-highest tally of his career. Holani should continue to see 8-to-10 touches per game as a complementary option while Zach Charbonnet (knee) remains on the PUP list.
Holani could get most of the opportunities on third down and in passing situations while Jadarian Price gets the majority of early-down work to begin the regular season, according to Brady Henderson of ESPN.com.
The Seahawks seem to trust Holani's receiving and pass-blocking abilities, which should allow the 26-year-old running back to earn a prominent role out of the gate, though the rookie first-round pick Price is the leading candidate to get most of the rushing opportunities. Zach Charbonnet (knee) could also earn a sizable role once healthy, but he'll miss at least the first four weeks of the season while on the reserve/PUP list and could be out well beyond then. Emanuel Wilson (hamstring) rounds out the running back depth chart.
Holani is listed as the starting running back on Seattle's initial preseason depth chart, Randy Gurzi of SI.com reports.
Holani has enjoyed a strong training camp and is on track to earn a significant role in Seattle's backfield alongside rookie first-round pick Jadarian Price, at least until Zach Charbonnet returns from his knee injury. In 2025, Holani struggled to earn playing time behind Charbonnet and Kenneth Walker, the latter of whom left for Kansas City in free agency. Charbonnet tore his ACL during the playoffs and may miss part of the regular season, while Price is dealing with lower-body soreness ahead of Seattle's preseason opener.
The RBs priced immediately above and below him.
