Beckham (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game in New Orleans.
Only four days removed from the Vikings signing Beckham to the practice squad and elevating him ahead of Week 5 action, he'll be a healthy scratch in his first chance to contribute to Minnesota's offense. With Jordan Addison (hamstring) also inactive Sunday, the team's available wide receivers Sunday will be Justin Jefferson (ankle), Jauan Jennings, Tai Felton, Myles Price and Jeshaun Jones.
The Vikings officially elevated Beckham from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game in New Orleans, Craig Peters of the team's official site reports.
With Justin Jefferson (ankle) and Jordan Addison (hamstring) tending to injuries and listed as questionable for Week 5 action, Minnesota has brought in reinforcements from the practice squad in the form of Beckham and Jeshaun Jones. Beckham only joined the team Wednesday, so even if he ends up being active, he likely doesn't have a bevy of situations in which he'll see the field.
The Vikings are expected to elevate Beckham from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game at New Orleans, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Above the line the plan was to throw; below it, to run.
Beckham caught on with Minnesota midweek and now has a chance to make his debut with the team as soon as Sunday, which may be contingent on the health of fellow WRs Justin Jefferson (ankle) and Jordan Addison (hamstring), both of whom are questionable for Week 5. If even one of Jefferson or Addison is inactive, Beckham seems poised to suit up, but what kind of role he can expect alongside Jauan Jennings, Tai Felton and Myles Price remains to be seen.
Beckham agreed Wednesday to sign with the Vikings' practice squad, according to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz.
After winning a spot on the Giants' roster coming out of the preseason, Beckham struggled to find playing time, logging just one target and logging 20 total snaps before he was cut following Week 3. He was able to find a new opportunity with the Vikings, who can elevate Beckham for up to three games before he would need to be signed to the 53-man roster in order to continue playing for the team. Unless top wideout Justin Jefferson's ankle injury costs him more time, Beckham may still face an uphill battle to earning meaningful snaps in a Vikings receiver room that also includes Jordan Addison, Jauan Jennings and Tai Felton.
Beckham played 11 of New York's 69 offensive snaps and didn't see a target in Sunday's Week 1 win over Dallas.
Beckham's return to the Giants was uneventful, as he didn't have any passes thrown his way during his limited time on the field. Though Beckham's return to New York is a feel-good story, the veteran wideout appears to be no higher than fourth in the team's WR pecking order. Unless that changes, Beckham isn't likely to be an attractive fantasy asset.
Beckham has earned a spot on the 53-man roster for the Giants, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Beckham rejoined the Giants at the start of June, and although he had to compete for a roster spot he wound up snagging one. Roles are still being sorted behind top wideout Malik Nabers (knee), so it remains to be seen what type of workload Beckham will handle in Week 1.
The WRs priced immediately above and below him.
