McNichols could be Washington's top backfield option in passing situations moving forward, as Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Commanders believe Austin Ekeler suffered a torn Achilles during Thursday's loss to the Packers.
Ekeler and Jacory Croskey-Merritt handled the majority of backfield opportunities throughout Washington's first two games, but McNichols notably mixed in for some change-of-pace work while Chris Rodriguez has been inactive. Croskey-Merritt has yet to catch a pass in the NFL and had only seven catches in college, so McNichols profiles as the favorite to take over as the top pass catcher in Washington's backfield if Ekeler's season-ending injury is confirmed.
The RBs priced immediately above and below him.
