Schultz caught three of four targets for 30 yards during Sunday's 26-3 win over the Titans.
Schultz has now caught three or fewer passes while failing to exceed 30 receiving yards in three straight contests. The tight end has garnered just nine targets since Week 2 after he caught 16 of 22 targets for 175 yards over the first two weeks of the season. Schultz may have a tough time getting back on track against the Jaguars' impressive defense in Week 6.
Schultz caught all three of his targets for 30 yards in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Colts.
Schultz crashed back down to earth after recording 12 catches for 140 yards in the previous game. The Texans remained without top WR Nico Collins (hamstring), and only Xavier Hutchinson (51) had more receiving yards than Schultz as C.J. Stroud threw for just 167 yards in Sunday's loss. Schultz figures to remain among Stroud's top targets in Week 4 against the Cowboys, even if Collins comes back.
Schultz is in line to see an increase in targets for the second consecutive game in Sunday's Week 3 matchup against the Colts due to Nico Collins (hamstring) being ruled inactive for the contest.
The veteran tight end recorded a career-high 140 receiving yards on 12 receptions (14 targets) in the Week 2 loss to the Bengals, a game that marked Collins' first absence of the season. The fact the Texans were in catch-up mode and the Bengals' defense tends to funnel production to tight ends were both factors in Schultz's atypical numbers, but Collins' second consecutive absence does create the opportunity for another busy afternoon as Houston aims to secure its first win. Additionally, the Colts have been fairly generous to tight ends over the first two games of the season, surrendering a 75.0 percent catch rate, 11.1 yards per reception and tying for the third-most receptions (15) given up to the position among teams that have played two games thus far.
Everyone sharing the ball with Dalton, most valuable first.
Above the line the plan was to throw; below it, to run.
Schultz brought in 12 of 14 targets for 140 yards in the Texans' 20-6 loss to the Bengals on Sunday.
Schultz eye-popping stat line came on an afternoon where C.J. Stroud threw for 353 yards despite the Texans accruing a sparse six points, and in which Nico Collins (hamstring) was sidelined. Stroud and Schultz were able to repeatedly exploit the one prominent weakness of a seemingly improved Bengals defense, and the veteran tight end's yardage total was a career-high figure. Despite the unexpected breakout performance, Schultz's role will narrow whenever Collins is able to return to action.
Schultz caught four of eight targets for 35 yards in Sunday's 36-31 loss to the Bills.
Schultz's eight targets were second on the team to Nico Collins' 10 on 38 pass attempts by C.J. Stroud. Schultz doesn't offer much big play ability at 30 years old, but he's a reliable target in the middle of the field and saw his floor raise when Jayden Higgins went down with a season-ending torn ACL over the summer. The veteran tight end will be a borderline TE1/2 next Sunday against the Bengals.
Schultz did not play in any of the Texans' three preseason games.
Schultz, wide receiver Nico Collins and running back David Montgomery were some of the offensive starters that did not participate in preseason games, with quarterback C.J. Stroud seeing minimal action against the Raiders on Aug. 20. Schultz is coming off a productive 2025 regular season, setting a career high with 82 catches, while his 777 yards were his most since the 2021 campaign with the Cowboys (808 yards). Jayden Higgins (knee) will miss the entire 2026 season, and with Tank Dell (knee) opening the season on injured reserve, Schultz and Collins figure to be the go-to targets for Stroud in the passing game.
The TEs priced immediately above and below him.
