Barner caught three of four passes for 16 yards during the Seahawks' 17-14 overtime loss to the Broncos on Thursday.
Barner wasn't targeted by Sam Darnold until late in the third quarter, and he finished a distant fourth behind Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Rashid Shaheed and Cooper Kupp in both catches and receiving yards. Barner has played 90 percent or more of the Seahawks' offensive snaps in five of six games this season, but he's also caught more than three passes just once (Week 3 against the Commanders). He also doesn't have a touchdown to his name this season after finding the end zone six times during the 2025 regular season. The Seahawks will look to break their two-game losing streak in Week 7 on Sunday, Oct. 25 against the Chiefs, whose defense gives up the third-most fantasy points per game to tight ends this season.
Barner caught three of five targets for 20 yards during Sunday's 32-29 loss versus the 49ers.
Barner easily paced Seattle's tight ends in terms of offensive snaps (58) in Week 5, and his five targets represented his second best mark of the season so far. The majority of his targets continue to come underneath, however, and he's still looking for his first receiving touchdown of the campaign. The Seahawks will travel to take on Denver in Week 6.
Barner caught 5-of-9 targets for 69 yards in the Seahawks' 33-31 loss to the Commanders on Sunday.
Above the line the plan was to throw; below it, to run.
Barner saw an intense target share in Sunday's contest, picking up the slack for the Seahawks' offense. The Commanders' defense relentlessly prioritized Jaxon Smith-Njigba as the game developed, leaving Barner to see plenty of attention in a losing effort.
Barner caught his only target for eight yards while also adding a one-yard rushing touchdown during Sunday's 31-7 win over Arizona.
Barner was on the field for 56 of the team's 70 total offensive snaps, but he left his mark on the game in the third quarter, punching the ball in from one yard out on a direct snap. The tight end has yet to find his stride as pass-catcher this season, reeling in all three of his targets for 21 yards over the team's first two games.
Barner sits atop a Seahawks tight end depth chart that's unchanged from last season heading into the 2026 regular season, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
The Seahawks won the Super Bowl last season with a tight end room consisting of Barner, Eric Saubert, Elijah Arroyo and Nick Kallerup, so it's understandable that the team decided not to rock the boat at the position. Arroyo is Barner's primary competition for pass-catching opportunities, as the 2025 second-round pick enjoyed a productive 2026 preseason after a lackluster rookie regular season in which Arroyo posted just 179 receiving yards. Barner led the position group with 52 catches for 519 yards and six touchdown receptions on 68 targets during the 2025 regular season.
Barner was rested for Seattle's 17-7 preseason loss to the Cowboys on Saturday.

Barner and Elijah Arroyo could be the biggest winners in new offensive coordinator Brian Fleury's scheme, which figures to lean heavily on two-tight end sets, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
The defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks have a wealth of receiving options for quarterback Sam Darnold, but Fleury is bringing an offense with him from San Francisco that likes to deploy multiple TEs in order to facilitate the kinds of shifts and motion routes that leave defenses guessing. Barner took a big step forward in 2025 in his second NFL season, posting a 52-519-6 line on 68 targets in 17 regular-season contests before hauling in another TD in the Super Bowl, and Fleury's new scheme should help ensure he at least matches that level of production in 2026.
