The 49ers downgraded Kirk (calf) to out for Monday's game against the Commanders, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
After having his 21-day practice window opened Thursday, Kirk looked to have a realistic chance at returning from injured reserve in Week 6, especially in light of the depleted state of the 49ers receiving corps. However, with Kirk managing only limited participation from Thursday through Saturday, the 49ers will give him at least one more week to increase his practice activity before potentially bringing him back from IR. San Francisco will have Mike Evans (ribs/Achilles) -- if active -- along with Brandin Cooks, Jacob Cowing, Jordan Watkins and Malik Turner as its options at receiver Monday.
Kirk (calf), who is listed as questionable for Monday's matchup with the Commanders, is expected to be reinstated from injured reserve ahead of the Week 6 game, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Kirk, who signed a one-year deal with the 49ers in March, has yet to play this preseason due to a calf injury and has seen rookie second-round pick De'Zhaun Stribling make a strong impression thus far this summer, per Brooke Evans of the team's official site.
Kirk has played in only 33 of a possible 51 regular-season games since the start of the 2023 campaign due to an assortment of injuries, and he's recorded less than 30 receptions and 400 receiving yards in each of the last two seasons. Kirk's deal is for a relatively modest $6 million, and the lingering injury has allowed Stribling to see additional reps in the first two preseason games while recording a combined 11 receptions for 109 yards on 13 targets.
