Barkley (hamstring) officially didn't practice Wednesday.
Barkley has yet to mix into drills since suffering a right hamstring injury in the early stages of the Eagles' Week 4 loss to the Rams. Head coach Nick Sirianni expressed hope Monday that Barkley will return to action Sunday against the Panthers, suggesting it's possible he gets back on the practice field by Friday. Until that happens, though, Barkley likely is trending toward another absence in Week 6, which would leave Philadelphia's backfield in the hands of Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele with Will Shipley (foot) set for a multi-week stay on the sideline.

Barkley might be able to return from a hamstring injury for a Week 6 game against the Panthers, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
The star running back sat out a Week 5 loss to the Jaguars in London, but Eagles coach Nick Sirianni indicated Monday that he's "hopeful" Barkley could be back after missing just the one game. If he doesn't get cleared to return, Philadelphia's backfield will have only Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele as healthy RBs on the roster, as Tank Bigsby is on IR and Will Shipley is expected to miss multiple weeks with a foot injury he picked up Sunday.

Above the line the plan was to throw; below it, to run.
Head coach Nick Sirianni said Monday that he's "hopeful" that both Barkley (hamstring) and DeVonta Smith (hamstring) will both be cleared to play against the Panthers this coming Sunday, Zach Berman of The Athletic reports.

Barkley sat out the majority of the Week 4 loss to the Rams due to the hamstring issue, and the injury will now lead to the star running back's first absence of the season. With Tank Bigsby hitting injured reserve Tuesday due to an abdomen injury, Will Shipley and practice squad call-up Dameon Pierce are expected to handle the majority of Philadelphia's workload on the ground against Jacksonville.

Barkley, who exited the Week 4 loss to the Rams with a hamstring injury, missed the first session of Week 5 prep Wednesday, Chris McPherson of the team's official site reports.
Barkley's status will naturally be a subject of heavy scrutiny this week, especially with the Eagles having to travel overseas for their Week 5 game in London against the Jaguars. It's been a rocky start to the new season for Barkley, who also missed a significant chunk of Philadelphia's Week 2 win over the Titans with a neck stinger. If Barkley is unable to play against Jacksonville, the Eagles will be down to Will Shipley and Dameon Pierce at running back, since Tank Bigsby was placed on injured reserve Tuesday due to an abdominal injury.

Barkley rushed 15 times for 82 yards and secured one of two targets for minus-2 yards in the Eagles' 27-7 loss to the Bears on Monday night.
Barkley was a rare bright spot for an otherwise moribund Eagles offense, showing no ill effects from the stinger that cost him substantial time in a Week 2 win over the Titans. The star running back got his night started on the right foot with a 12-yard run on Philadelphia's opening possession and a nine-yarder on the second drive that was wiped out by a holding penalty. Barkley would go on to add another four rushes of seven or more yards, including a game-long 17-yard scamper. Barkley has yet to top 15 carries in any of the first three games of the season, but he's been highly efficient while averaging 5.1 yards per carry and posting four runs of 10-plus yards overall. Barkley and the Eagles have a tall order on their Week 4 ledger, however, as the Rams come to town Sunday.
Barkley (stinger) said Friday that he's "feeling good" this week and will wear protective gear around his neck during Monday's contest at Chicago, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Barkley also relayed that he underwent an MRI earlier this week on his left shoulder to ensure there wasn't additional damage after he sustained a stinger in this past Sunday's win in Tennessee. He officially was a limited participant Thursday and took part in Friday's session, but unless he logs a full practice either Friday or Saturday, he seems destined to be tagged with a designation ahead of Week 3 action.
Barkley (stinger) was a full practice participant Friday.
Barkley's status for Week 3 was chief among the health concerns coming out of a Week 2 win at Tennessee in which he suffered a stinger and missed most of the first half. After kicking off this week with a limited practice Thursday, he handled every practice rep one day later, indicating he's good to go for Monday's contest in Chicago. Having said that, Barkley told Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia on Friday that he'll wear protective gear around his neck and shoulders this week and perhaps as long as symptoms of the stinger are impacting him.
Barkley (shoulder) said Thursday that his MRI "went well" when asked about his chances of playing in Monday's game at Chicago, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Barkley (stinger) practiced on a limited basis Thursday.
Barkley missed most of the first half of the Eagles' Week 2 win at Tennessee due to a stinger, but he returned in the second half and ended the contest with five touches for 20 yards from scrimmage. He told Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer on Thursday that an MRI on his left shoulder "went well," and during the corresponding session he was spotted wearing a protective device on his shoulder and neck area, per Zach Berman of The Athletic. Barkley is actually the healthiest of the running backs on Philadelphia's active roster, as both Tank Bigsby (abdomen) and Will Shipley (foot) were held out of drills entirely to begin Week 3 prep. The overall situation bears monitoring in the coming days to see who among the trio will be available Monday in Chicago.

The Eagles announced that Barkley is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Titans due to a stinger.
Barkley appeared to be favoring his neck and left shoulder after he was tackled to the ground on a carry during the Eagles' first offensive play of the game. The running back headed to the locker room shortly after the play in question and is receiving further treatment for the injury while the Eagles determine whether or not he's able to return. Tank Bigsby and Will Shipley will likely share work out of the backfield if Barkley ends up being shut down for the rest of the contest.
Barkley headed to the locker room during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Titans to be evaluated for an apparent left arm injury, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Barkley sustained the injury on a zero-yard carry on the Eagles' first offensive play of the game. After a brief trip to the medical tent on the sideline, Barkley jogged back to the locker room to be checked out further. The Eagles should have an update on the star running back's status shortly.

Barkley didn't see any action during the Eagles' three-game preseason slate.
At this point in his standout career, Barkley doesn't require exhibition reps to be his usual self once the games begin to count, so it's understandable that coach Nick Sirianni opted to rest Philadelphia's No. 1 RB and other key starters. After reeling off 2,005 rushing yards in 2024 and winning a Super Bowl, Barkley took a step back last season, but he still notched 1,413 yards from scrimmage and nine total TDs on 317 touches in 16 regular-season games. Sirianni has passed off play-calling duties to new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion, so it remains to be seen how effective Barkley will be in the new scheme.
Barkley became the Eagles' franchise leader in career playoff rushing yards with 106 in Sunday's 23-19 wild-card game loss to the 49ers.
Barkley needed just two seasons with Philadelphia to surpass Brian Westbrook's previous franchise record of 591 postseason rushing yards. After racking up 499 rushing yards in four playoff games during Philadelphia's run to Super Bowl LIX, Barkley bumped his playoff total up to 605 rushing yards as a member of the Eagles, though he suffered his first postseason loss with the Eagles despite Sunday's strong rushing performance.
