The Saints are placing Etienne (hamstring) on injured reserve, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports.
Etienne dealt with a hamstring injury during Week 3 prep and then aggravated the issue this past Sunday against the Raiders, leading to head coach Kellen Moore telling Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football on Monday that the running back was expected to miss some time. With his placement on IR, Etienne will sit out at least the next four games, meaning his next chance for game action is Sunday, Nov. 8 versus the Browns. In the meantime, Alvin Kamara figures to take on the lead role in the Saints backfield, but Kendre Miller and CJ Donaldson also are on hand for RB reps.
Saints head coach Kellen Moore said that Etienne will have some "time lost" due to the hamstring injury he sustained in Sunday's 35-27 loss to the Raiders, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Etienne appears likely to be sharing the Saints backfield with Alvin Kamara in a Week 2 road matchup against the Ravens after the latter practiced in full Wednesday, per Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com.
Etienne faced the Lions in Week 1 without Kamara, who'd been dealing with an MCL injury for several weeks. Etienne logged 16 total touches in the overtime loss, although it's worth noting seven of those were as a receiver. If the Saints can remain competitive against Baltimore, both Etienne and Kamara could see a fairly close split in workload, and the latter would likely eat into some of the former's pass-catching opportunities.
Etienne carried the ball nine times for 46 yards and caught seven of nine targets for 32 yards in Sunday's 31-30 overtime loss to the Lions.
