Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst said Tuesday that he's "really hopeful" Musgrave (neck) will be able to play at some point during the 2026 season, Ryan Wood of USA Today reports.
Green Bay placed Musgrave on the PUP list Sunday, ensuring that he'll miss at least the first four contests of the campaign. Musgrave is far from a lock to be activated when first eligible to play, as he was unable to practice at any point in training camp or the preseason after injuring his neck during June minicamp. Perhaps in part due to Musgrave's hazy return timeline, the Packers signed veteran Jonnu Smith to a one-year deal last week to provide depth behind top tight end Tucker Kraft (knee).
Musgrave (neck) was moved to the reserve/PUP list Sunday, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official website reports.

Head coach Matt LaFleur said Musgrave will get more opportunities moving forward after Tucker Kraft sustained a knee injury in the Packers' Week 9 loss to the Panthers, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com.
The Packers fear Kraft sustained a season-ending ACL tear, though that diagnosis won't be confirmed until after Kraft undergoes an MRI. Kraft and Musgrave were both Day 2 draft picks in the 2023 NFL Draft, with Musgrave going 36 picks earlier at 42nd overall. Musgrave set a season high with three catches in Week 9.
The TEs priced immediately above and below him.
