inherits 5% of TEN targets (31% vacated, his claim 15%)
Tate (back) is active for Sunday's game against the Texans.
Tate was limited in the Titans' final two Week 5 practices due to the back issue, but the injury apparently won't be enough of a concern to keep the rookie wideout off the field Sunday. The No. 4 overall pick in the draft is coming off a career-best performance in the Titans' 24-18 loss to the Ravens in Week 4, when he tallied nine catches for 145 yards on 12 targets.
Head coach Robert Saleh said Friday that Tate (back) is good to go for Sunday's game against the Texans, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
Tate was limited by some back tightness this week, according to Saleh, but the first-round rookie will be out there for his normal role against Houston. After commanding 42.9 percent of the targets in last Sunday's loss to the Ravens, Tate's arrow appears to be pointing upward after a slow first couple weeks of the season. He's the unquestioned No. 1 receiver in Tennessee's anemic offense.
Tate (back) was a limited participant at Thursday's practice, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Above the line the plan was to throw; below it, to run.

Coach Robert Saleh said Tate (undisclosed) missed Tuesday's practice due to some "stiffness," Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
There's been no indication the first-round rookie wideout's status for Week 1 against the Jets is in any sort of danger. Tate played 38 offensive snaps during the preseason but failed to catch any of his six targets across the three exhibition contests. He's expected to serve as Cam Ward's top downfield weapon this season alongside slot man Wan'Dale Robinson (head), though Calvin Ridley is still in the mix at the position. There could be growing pains for Tate in 2026 in what is expected to be one of the lower scoring offenses in the league.
Tennessee's coaching staff has high hopes for Tate heading into his rookie regular season despite his poor performance in the preseason, per Turron Davenport of ESPN.com. "I have a great amount of confidence in Tate," offensive coordinator Brian Daboll said Tuesday. "Look, I think everybody would love to have 15 catches. But he's doing the right stuff. He's in a good headspace. He's where he's supposed to be."
Tate failed to record a reception on six targets across Tennessee's three preseason games. In two of those three games, the Titans started Cam Ward at quarterback. Tennessee selected Tate fourth overall in the 2026 NFL Draft after drafting Ward first overall the previous year.
The WRs priced immediately above and below him.
