Johnson (hamstring) was a limited participant at practice Thursday.
Johnson popped up on the Bills' injury report with a hamstring issue Wednesday, and it was still bothering him at practice Thursday. Whether he ends up carrying an injury designation into the weekend might depend on his activity Friday, which will be his last chance to practice ahead of Sunday's game at Las Vegas. If he can go in Week 6, he'll be looking to build off the four-catch, 72-yard performance he managed in Week 5 against the Rams.
Johnson (hamstring) was considered limited at the Bills' walkthrough practice Wednesday.
Johnson reeled in all four of his targets for 72 yards during Monday night's 37-34 overtime win against the Rams, but he may have picked up a hamstring injury in the process. The running back's ability to be limited Wednesday is a positive sign, and he'll have two more chances to log a full practice and erase any concern about his availability for Sunday's contest versus Las Vegas.
Johnson caught all four of his targets for 72 yards during the Bills' 37-34 overtime win over the Rams on Monday.
Everyone sharing the ball with Ty, most valuable first.
Above the line the plan was to throw; below it, to run.
Johnson played only 14 of the Bills' 64 offensive snaps (21.9 percent) and didn't log a single carry. However, the veteran running back made his snaps count as a receiver, rumbling for 40 yards on his first catch midway through the second quarter that led to a 17-yard touchdown run by James Cook on the very next play. Johnson added three more catches in the second half -- including a 26-yard grab -- and finished second on the Bills in receiving yards behind Khalil Shakir (80). Johnson will continue to operate as the Bills' change-of-pace back heading into Week 7 against the Raiders.
Johnson (hamstring) practiced fully Wednesday.
Johnson thus is poised for his season debut Sunday against the Chargers after missing the first two games of the campaign due to a hamstring issue. Working behind James Cook and vying with Ray Davis for complementary RB reps doesn't afford Johnson much in terms of touches, as he's earned 170 in 44 regular-season games over the last three years as a member of the Bills.
Johnson (hamstring) is listed as inactive Thursday against the Lions.
Despite being listed as limited on all three of the Bills' Week 2 injury reports, Johnson will continue to don street clothes on game days due to a hamstring issue that has bothered him since at least Aug. 24. In Johnson's absence, Ray Davis will continue to garner RB reps that don't go to starter James Cook, while Frank Gore is on hand in case one of those two leaves the game for any reason.
Johnson (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game against the Lions.

Johnson could get more opportunities with the first-team offense in minicamp, as Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports that James Cook may hold out as Cook angles for an extension.
Johnson split backup duties with rookie Ray Davis in 2024, as the former posted 497 scrimmage yards, which was well behind Cook's team-leading total of 1,267 in the regular season. If Cook holds out during contract talks, Davis and Johnson would likely split first-team reps in practice.
